P3 Eco Games

8th Mar 2024
We really enjoyed our ‘Gravel Bed Grumbles’ Ulster Wildlife game in P.E. yesterday. It was a new one this week and it was quite similar to Musical Chairs but we had the best fun. We had to be quick and nimble on our feet to try and not to be the last fish without a gravel bed!

We learned that herring lay their eggs on the seabeds in gravel areas. However, these eggs can be endangered by dredge fishing. Dredges are dragged along the bottom of the seabed to harvest shellfish like scallops and clams. We used mats as our gravel beds and had to find a safe one when we heard the word ‘spawn’. We found out a lot and had great fun! 🐟 🌊
